COMPANY HISTORY

In 1983, Maier & Associates was founded in Boulder, Colorado by Jane Maier, a native of Denver and a 1979 graduate of the Monterey Institute of International Studies. It was a small operation with two employees, providing translation services in numerous languages to individuals, private industry (including Qwest Communications and Johns-Manville), and the government (State of Colorado election materials) primarily located in the Colorado, as well as a few medical device companies in California. The business enjoyed steady growth and expansion throughout the 1980s.

In July of 1992 the company was sold to TCA (Translation Company of America). An office was found on the renowned Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, and at the end of that year the company name was changed to Language Matters.

Finally, in 2008, Language Matters joined forces with The Language Lab  in New York City under the umbrella of Translingua Associates, Inc. This cooperation has allowed Language Matters to broaden its approach, expand its customer base and offer a more extensive range of foreign language services  not just in the West but throughout the U.S. and abroad.
